Happy Friday everyone!  I’m actually going to do some packing after I post this, as I’m going to Virginia Beach to visit some friends this weekend, which should be fun! Last weekend was absolutely amazing too, as I was a maid of honor at my youngest baby sister’s wedding. She had her ceremony on the beach over in Tampa. I have to say, it was an absolutely beautiful wedding (pictures coming soon to my Instagram!)

If you read the title of this post you may be scratching your head, especially if you know that I live in Central Florida. You read correctly though, today is all about wearing sweaters in the summer, and looking stylish doing it. Who knows? It may be the the unexpected chic staple you’ve been missing in your spring/summer wardrobe. I have always loved wearing light sweaters into spring and early summer as part of my own personal style.

When incorporating  a sweater this time of year, you just have to strategize a little. If you live in a warmer climate such as I do, you’ll usually have to save your summer sweater for the evening, or a rainy/overcast day. I kept three things in mind when choosing the warm weather sweater shown here: material, details, and cut. Look for light weight cotton knitwear, rather then wool or even cashmere. You could also opt for fishnet material, or even crochet. As for details, cut outs are great, as they give these comfy favorites more breathing room, and look fashionable doing it. When choosing  a cut, I think that you’ll find that the style you like best this time of year is the cropped version, for obvious reasons.

Now for some style tips on wearing this comfy classic!  Sweaters, especially cropped, look adorable when paired with a high waisted mini skirt. For this look I styled my sweater with a cotton, high rise layered skirt by Paint it Red , (and did I mention the skirt has two front pockets? I love pockets!) You could also pair your sweater with a distressed denim mini or high waisted denim shorts. If you want to look extra season appropriate, you could even pair it up with a floral mini (one the biggest fashion trends right now).
